Day 3 - Normandy Beaches

Sunday saw us take a 2 hour coach journey to the beaches of Normandy, the site of the D-Day landings. Our first stop was Colleville US Cemetery, with both staff and pupils partaking in a short service to remember those lost during World War 2 as well those most recently in Nice and Turkey.



Day 2 - Fougeres Market

Our first full day in France started with an early wake-up call and breakfast at 7:15am. After a quick catch-up on our French vocabulary it was back onto the coach and off to the picturesque town of Fougeres.



After a couple of quick photos in front of the castle it was off to the market. Our task was to buy ingredients to make ourselves lunch later that day. We also took the opportunity to put our French skills to the test and try out some local cuisine!

Once we got back to the Chateua it was time to make our lunches, with style being just as important as taste!

First Day

After a long day of travelling that took it's toll on several pupils, we finally arrived at Chateau du Tertre at 5.30pm local time.

After such much needed food (and cleaning up after ourselves!) we settled into our rooms

A tour of the chateau followed before we participated in our first activity of the weekend: Robot Wars!

Pupils were split into teams of six, competing in a series of activities to earn points to build their 'robot'. By the end of the evening just two teams remained and they battled it out head-to-head to be crowned Robot Wars champions!

Friday 15th July:

• 02:00 DEPARTURE from Tesco Upper Boat (see address below) (please arrive a little earlier to allow for the loading of luggage/passengers. Coach arrives at 1.30am)
• 07:25 : Check in with P&O Ferries, Dover
• 08:25 : Departure time to Calais
• 10:55 : Arrival in Calais
• 16:30 : Arrival in accommodation. Pupils will have time to settle in their rooms before supper. Evening entertainment will be provided

 Saturday 16th July:

• Morning : Excursion to Fougeres Market
• Afternoon : Activites
• Evening : Evening entertainment will be provided

Sunday 17th July:

• Morning : Visit to Coleville US Cemetery. Worship conducted here by staff
• 14:00 : Musee du Debarguement. Guided tour of the museum
• 15:30 : Arromanches 360 Cinema
• Evening :  TBC

Monday 18th July:

• Morning : Departure from the Chateaux after breakfast. Hypermarket visit
• 16:15 : Check-in at Calais
• 17:15 : Departure from Calais
• 17:45 : Arrival in Dover
• 22:30 : Expected arrival in Tesco Extra Upper Boat.
